Attention focused in Parliament on News1st Correspondent attacked in Hali-Ela

The Kandy District Media Collective staged a demonstration on Sunday to protest against the attack on News 1st correspondent Chandana Kuruppuarachchi.
The demonstration was held opposite the George E. De Silva Park in Kandy.
News 1st’s Badulla Correspondent, Chandana Kuruppuarachchi, who was attacked recently in Hali-Ela, continues to receive treatment in hospital.
He is being treated at a private hospital in Colombo. He has undergone several surgeries as a result of injuries he sustained during the attack.
News 1st Correspondent Chandana Kuruppuarachchi was attacked while attempting to cover a clash between two political groups in Hali Ela. The matter was brought to the attention of Parliament on Friday.
