U.S. entrepreneurs discuss doing business in Sri Lanka

The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) hosted a breakfast discussion for Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the representatives of U.S. businesses in New York on Friday morning.

The conference was planned with two principal objectives, One was to gather representatives from major U.S. companies that are either already investing in Sri Lanka or have an interest in exploring potential investment opportunities in the country.
The representatives were given the chance to discuss their company’s interests to the president as well as the other high-level officials who were attached to the business in Sri Lanka.
“Peace and stability” were considered as the greatest offer to incoming companies, while the President Rajapaksa also noted that the country is also able to offer a highly skilled workforce.
The services, healthcare and tourism sectors were highlighted as having immense potential for new investments.
Representatives from a number of leading U.S. companies, including those such as Boeing, Citigroup and Exxon Mobil, participated in the briefing, many of whom expressed interest in entering the Sri Lankan market.
