Addressing a function in Kurunegala today, the President said Sri Lankan government has evidence of the former Norwegian Government's involvement in supporting the LTTE during the war.

The President has demanded the current Norwegian government to investigate the role Norway played during the ceasefire it brokered between then Sri Lankan government and the LTTE.

"They (Norway) gave money to the LTTE. The Norwegian government must investigate. We have evidence on how they funded the terrorists," President Rajapaksa said.

He charged that the former Norwegian peace envoy Eric Solheim has supported the LTTE and now the former Norwegian Minister is getting ready to testify against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council led investigation.

The President recalled that Solheim and the Norwegian government discouraged him from pursuing a military solution the end the war.

"They said the military will not be able to defeat LTTE but our military proved them wrong," he said.

Sri Lanka militarily defeated the terrorist organization in May 2009 killing all the terrorist leaders. However, the remnants of the organization that survived overseas, especially in European countries, are now attempting to revive the organization, according to the government.
