IS stones to death two alleged Syrian gay men

Islamic State (IS) militants have stoned to death two alleged homosexual men in Syria’s eastern province of Deir al-Zour.

The first man who to be killed was a 20 year old who was stoned at the al-Bakara roundabout in the city of Mayadeen in Deir where the execution was watched by men, women and children. A second man was stoned to death at the al-Takya Street in the neighbourhood of Hamidyeh in Deir al-Zour on the same charges.

The first execution came after a video surfaced of the man having sexual relations with another man. After the execution the bodies were taken into their custody and not handed to the parents.

The IS which promotes the use of Islamic laws however severe, has implemented strict rules in areas under its control, banning smoking or drinking alcohol as well as prohibiting women from walking on streets without veils.
