CID questions 7 over coup

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) recorded statements from seven people regarding the alleged coup attempt that was to take place at Temple Trees on January 8th said Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana.
According to the media Spokesperson, the statements were recorded through the Attorney General’s advice and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor G.L. Peiris, Chief Justice Mohan Peiris and the former Western Provincial councilor Udaya Gammanpila were among the seven who were questioned.
“The CID initiated the investigations after a complaint made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” said SSP Rohana adding “The CID is currently conducting the investigations regarding this alleged coup attempt and they are expecting to conclude it as soon as possible.”
