Foreign Servicemen Recalled

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that all those who have been politically appointed to foreign service by the previous government have been called back to Sri Lanka.
According to Ministry sources, most of the politically appointed people who are abroad have been overseas for over 4 years and were engaged in various businesses rather than promoting the country.
Reports taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that more than 50 personnel were deployed on foreign missions by the former government, but now they will be recalled.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the process for recalling political appointees in the diplomatic service has officially commenced. “This is usually something that follows a government change” said the Ministry official. He also added that most of the recalled officers were appointed through political influence and that they do not fill the necessary criteria.
