Malabe Private Medical College is illegally holding more than 50 cadavers and we suspect that these cadavers might be connected to the disappearances that occurred during the Rajapakse Regime, said convener of the Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee (MFSAC) Ryan Jayalath.

Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (23) he stated that the the Malabe Private Medical College has not been approved by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) even though the Private College had advertised it’s eligibility as a private university providing degree courses.
He also exposed of secret discussions between the current Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne and the officials of the Malabe Private Medical College which had been allegedly held last Monday (19) and of another discussion which will be held on the coming Monday (26). According to him these meetings are held in order to discuss about the continuation of the Private Medical College.
“The College will be graduating its first batch of students very soon. But since they don’t have the SLMC approval these students will be out of jobs. What minister Senaratne is doing right now is filling in for former minister S. B. Dissanayake and trying to coerce the approval of the College which is a corrupt institution. It is currently holding more than 50 bodies which is in violation of the Cemetery Ordinance. And we suspect that these cadavers are connected to the disappearances committed by the former government. Holding secret meetings with these corrupt institutions is not good governance and what should be done immediately is that this College should be closed down,” said he.
