Shreya Ghoshal live in Concert

The highly expected Shreya Ghoshal's live concert was boomed at Havelock grounds on the 28th of March. In spite of heavy rain, fans and music lovers assembled on the grounds to enjoy the night with the famous playback singer of India.
Her popularity has widened beyond India across the globe where most number of the Indians live. Having worked with musical legends such as A. R. Rahman, the contemporary singer has not only become well-known for her musical gift, but has been celebrated for it.
Recognized by all major film awarding bodies including International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), Filmfare and the Indian Telly Awards she has the title of “Best Female Playback Singer” by all their standards and has even won the National Film Award for the title.
“I fell in love with the country and the people from the moment I landed here. The food was fantastic spicy and hot. I am warmly welcomed by the smile and their warmth. Thank you for the love and welcome” said Shreya Ghoshal while addressing the media briefing held at Hilton, Colombo prior to her show.
She also noted that she is looking forward to sing a song in Sinhala with the local artists if she gets an opportunity.
There were 7 to 8 thousand fans presented at the concert to cheer the event. She sang famous songs from her own playback singing of Bollywood and Kollywood while Aashiqui songs received most of the applause and cheers from the audience.
Having this as her first ever visit to Sri Lanka for a live concert she, regrets taking so long a time to visit the country. She also noted that she with her whole heart hopes to come back to the country.
Hiru TV proudly presented her to the country being the organizer of the live concert. Since India is the primary tourism and MICE tourism market for Sri Lanka, the ministry of Tourism and Sports, Sri Lankan Convention Bureau assisted them in organizing the concert and bringing the artist down to the country.
Shreya Ghoshal was rated as one of the 50 DNA's inaugural list of women who have impacted India in myriad ways. Former President of India Pratibha Patil, Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa, Saniya Mirza Tennis player, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra were amongst them.
Shreya Ghoshal who just turned 31, sings in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and in other languages viz Gujarati, Marathi, Punjab etc.
She moved from Rawatbhata to Mumbai where she studied at the Atomic Energy Central School in Anushkti Nagar. She withdrew science studies to take up arts with English as her major having realized her skills were drifting towards Music.
Shreya’s “YehlshqHaaye” cut across Sri Lanka apart from her winning a national award for Best Female Playback Singer. After this Ghoshal sang for many films like Om Shanthi Om, AajaNachle, and specially Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which caught Sri Lanka hearts. The current most popular song of her in Sri Lanka is Sun Raha Hai Na Tu in Aashiqui 2.
She moved onto outdoor performance and so far conducted stage shows in Australia, New Zealand, London, Leicester, Chicago, New Jersey, Toronto, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Florida, Atlanta, Washington D.C, Texas, California, Guyana etc.
